R.I.P. WHITNEY HOUSTON

The untimely death of Whitney Houston proves that alcoholism and drug addiction does not discriminate. I think that untreated emotional and mental distress led to the use of sedatives and the interaction with unsavory people. On the outside looking in, she appeared to have it all, but if that is true why did she engage in the things that she did? Any material possession that a person could have was available to her. There was no land that she could not travel and no person that she could not rub elbows with, so again I ask why throw it all away? Normal people can have a drink after dinner and go home. Alcoholics finish the bottle and look for more. Once a person with an appetite for drugs and alcohol engages in that lifestyle, only a true psychic change could restore that person to sanity, and obviously she did not experience that in enough time to correct the damage she caused to her body. Many people do no understand why people don’t just stop when alcohol and drugs become problematic. Believe me, if it were that simple people would stop before it took their lives. Unfortunately for people who suffer from the disease, “simply stopping” is not an option. - Lashonda Bussie, House Manager, Toni’s House
